25 mm Cannon

Homemade grenade launcher/ Mortar.

Ok so in this post I will teach you how to make a home made grenade launcher.

WARNING: EXPERIENCED USERS ONLY

Supplies you will need:

  1. Thick metal pipe at least 3 feet long. 20-25mm wide opening. Have rivets on one end to screw on block.
  2. Wide pipe to fit over the first pipe (incase of pipe rupture, protect you from shrapnel) Note: never happened to me but there is the risk.
  3. gunpowder (very fine powder, don't use pellets)
  4. Cannonfuse
  5. projectile (marble, carved wood, metal shot, anything hard that fits snug in the barrel.
  6. Rod (to compact gunpowder and ram shot down the barrel)
Now there are 2 ways you can do this.
  1. Barrel breach fuse. Which means you plug the barrel with only 3" of space for gunpowder and the projectile. Once you have the powder in you put the projectile AND the fuse in the opening. This way the projectile actually sticks out of the barrel. Similar to a Panzerfaust or RPG. (This is what mine is). So when ready to fire you light the fuse from the muzzle
  2. drill a whole within 1" of the rear of the pipe or in the back for a fuse. Pour the powder down the barrel and push the projectile all the way down the barrel like a musket. When ready to fire just light the fuse. as get a good distance from it.
My Cannon Below.
Now to dissect it
1. main Barrel (actual cannon) 5" Tube for powder
2. second tube, for recoil and shrapnel preventer
3. Outer tube, For shoulder fire, and extra shrapnel protection
4. Ram Rod
5. Gunpowder
6. Projectile. (fuse enters on side and exits into the barrel)
7. Fuse
"I know theres a lot of precaution steps here but safety first"

Closer Look
Loaded and ready to fire (minus outer tube) "with locations of everything"

NOW LETS FIRE IT! "VIDEO"

Then FIRE!

Thermite

THERMITE

This stuff burns extremely hot, melting metal and anything near it. At 4000F it is 3 time hotter than lava. I usually set it on metal plates and watch it melt right through it in seconds. If you use some coke cans it will make then disappear.

Ok so Thermite is a fun and safe thing to make compared to other things.  It can only be ignited with extreme heat. So for the best results use magnesium ribbon. You will need a propane torch to light the magnesium ribbon and you could also ignite the thermite with the lighter if you hold it long enough.

COMPONENTS
  1. You will need a scale that measures in grams.
  2. Need a large amount of Iron Oxide, which you can purchase on Ebay.
  3. Need a large amount of Aluminum Powder (also on eBay
  4. Magnesium Ribbon (fuse) purchase at www.cannonfuse.com
PROPORTIONS

8 grams Iron Oxide + 3 grams Aluminum powder = 11g Thermite
best to make 110g batches, 80 grams Iron Oxide + 30 grams Aluminum powder.
measure these out, poor into a jar, close it and shake well. Then you are done and ready!
Keep Dry and out of Intense Heat.

Safety Tips
  • once ignited cant be put out.
  • burns 3 times hotter than lava!
  • Extremely bright Do Not look directly at it (unless you have a welders mask.)
  • boiling metal inside the thermite can cause it to explode sending molten metal up to 10 feet from ignition source, so stand back at least 15 ft, preferably behind something.
I WILL POST VIDEO AND PHOTOS SOON, NEED TO BUY MORE IRON OXIDE

Napalm

Ok so you have probably seen the YouTube videos of people making basic napalm from styrofoam and gasoline. This really does work.

Basic Napalm

All you need for a simple napalm is

  • Gasoline
  • Bucket
  • Styrofoam
  • BBQ lighter
just put the styrofoam in the bucket of gasoline and wait a few hours, it will dissolve and make a sticky grey paste, put it in a glass jar to store it. if it drys out just add a little gas to it.
Make sure you don't light it when its stuck to you. Best to wear surgical gloves. Its a bitch to clean off your fingers.

PICTURES+VIDEO COMING SOON

Now for REAL napalm

The REAL NAPALM synthesis :
25 grams of cocoanut oil fatty acids ( = Lauric acid ), 12.5 grams of naphthenic acid and 12.5 grams of oleic acid were melted together and added to 1000 cc ( = 1000 ml ) of water containing 11.5 grams of 95% powdered sodium hydroxide . The solution is heated to 150 °F ( = 66 °C ) and stirred for ten minutes. 5 grams of activated carbon are added and the stirring continue for five minutes. The solution is then filtered and the clear filtrate is cooled to room temperature. 10 grams of a diatomaceous earth sold under the trade name “ Celite ” are added to the cooled, clear filtrate. 37 grams of Al2(SO4)318H2O ( = Aluminum sulfate octadecahydrate ) are dissolved in 100 cc ( = 100 ml ) of water and then slowly added to the clear filtrate containing the “ Celite ” . A Napalm Celite mixture precipitate. This mixture is filtered and transferred to a beaker with clean water and 5 grams more of Celite added with stirring.
The mixture is filtered and the filtered cake washed and dried in an oven at 50 °C.
The final product is now obtained : the powdered Napalm Celite mixture, ready to use !
The dried product obtained is very fine and broke up easily into a fine , uniform, light powder. This fine powdery Napalm Celite mixture proved very excellent for the gelling of gasoline. Conventional amounts will gel aviation gasoline in 23 seconds at 70 °F ( = 21 °C ) and five minutes and 55 seconds at 32 °F ( = 0 °C )
No additive such xylenol is needed to aid in the gelling

Safety First "INTRO"

Ok so for my first post on this topic I would like to make it clear that everything i talk about is for recreational fun. And should always be conducted in a safe environment with the appropriate  safety precautions. You should never point, throw or target any person or animal. Also do these tests in an open area clear of any brush that could catch on fire. This site is for educational use.

SAFETY GEAR
Try to have all the present when doing tests

  • Water
  • fire blanket
  • gloves
  • eye protection
  • thick jacket (when dealing with compressed explosives, like a cannon)

THINGS YOU WILL NEED FOR CONDUCTING TESTS
  • Cannon Fuses & Magnesium Ribbon.
  • Gunpowder
  • Knife
  • Scissors
  • Towel
  • Funnel
  • Scale (measure in grams)
  • beer bottles
  • Gasoline
  • Small Jars
  • BBQ Lighter
  • Propane Torch
